David Payne Racing Active At Magic Millions

With a great record of sourcing quality runners from the Magic Millions yearling sale at the Gold Coast in the past, highlighted by this season's Group 1 Spring Champion Stakes and Group 1 Victoria Derby winner Ace High, David Payne Racing are on site searching for new yearling for the stable.

The first purchase came towards the end of the first day, when Lot 209, when David Payne went to $180,000 to purchase Three Bridges Thoroughbreds Pierro colt.

With his oldest runners only three, the Group 1 Golden Slipper winner Pierro has started his stud career in fine form, siring seven stakes winners highlighted by the Group 1 Victoria Oaks winner Pinot.

Out of the Flying Spur mare Quasera, it is a family Payne knows all to well. The dam of the colt is a half-sister to Hurried Choice a filly Payne trained to Group 2 success.

On day two of the sale, the Payne Racing Stable secured an outstanding colt by Arrowfield Stud's first season sire Olympic Glory (Ire), a triple Group 1-winning son of Choisir - fro the very draft of where the stallion stands.

In fact he is the only stallion standing in Australia to win a Group 1 at two, three and four - what an outstanding achievement!

The impressive bay colt is the second foal of the winning More Than Ready mare Sammy's Girl, herself a daughter of Champion 3YO Filly and triple Group 1 winner Samantha Miss, from the family of Group 1 winner Cronus, Group 2-winning, Group 1 placed Pravda, the Group 3 winner Artistry and the Listed winner Pravana - such a great black type family.

Day three of the sale saw the Payne Racing stable secure a further two yearlings, both closely related to former stable runners.

Having purchased Bold Circle a few years prior at this very sale, Payne secured his half-brother by Emirates Park's Dream Ahead as Lot 637 from the draft of Queensland-based KBL Thoroughbreds.

Bold Circle was a horse that showed exciting ability as evident by his three wins and stakes performances. Out of the Anabaa mare Courtyard Circle, the bay or brown colt comes from the family of stakes winners Key Bar Knights, Barbed, Princess Margaret and Dynamic Love.

Towards the end of day three of the sale, Payne purchased his first filly of the sale, Lot 714 from the Coolmore Stud draft.

By Darley's Group 1 winning son of Dubawi, the filly is out of the stakes performed Fantastic Angel, and just like her lone runner Classic Brassica, were both trained by the Payne Racing stable during their racetrack careers.

From a family that goes back to Champion South African filly Petrava and her multiple Group 1-winning daughter Hoeberg, as well as the dual Group 1 winner Princess Vitoria, it is a real filly family and is not one to let under your guard.
