Kembla Grange Victory For Ace High

Having his first run back this time in, rising three-year-old Ace High produced the goods at Kembla Grange on Saturday, taking the 1400m race by a length and a quarter with Keagan Latham in the saddle.

Purchased from the draft of Bell River Thoroughbreds at the Magic Millions Yearling Sale for $130,000, Ace High was pushed out of the gates and showed plenty of speed to settle in second position.

With a good deal of tempo on, Keagan allowed Ace High to come around the heels of the leader with about 500m to go to ensure he didn’t get stuck behind a tired horse.

Urged along, Ace High responded extremely well, kicking on impressively to take the victory, his first from at his seventh career start – but the way he won, it wont be his last.

Highlighting his class last time in with a fourth in the Group 1 Champagne Stakes (1600m) behind The Mission, Invader and Whispered Secret, Ace High could be a colt to watch this season.

By deceased High Chaparral, Ace High is out of the unraced Redoute’s Choice mare Come Sunday, herself a three-quarter sister to the dam of stakes winners Kneeling and That’s A Good Idea.

Special congratulations to great Payne Racing Stable supporter Mr John Cordina’s Summertime Thoroughbreds on the impressive victory.
