Ready For Success Over 2000m

With the form behind himself proving itself in the last few weeks, More Than Ready four-year-old gelding Ready For Success appreciated the 2000m at Kembla Grange on Saturday to take out the Mitchell Bell Benchmark 86 Handicap.

A last start sixth behind More Moet, with that horse having since won again, Ready For Success started well in the market as jockey Chad Lever took the gelding forward to settle outside of the leader One Touch, before easing back to take up fifth position once the field had sorted itself out.

As the leader started to weaken before the home turn, the runs started to come from those back in the pack who were pulling out wide to be in a challenging position.

Making his run with Kiarra Rose down the outside of the field, Lever had to urged his runner for an effort and although he looked beaten, he rallied back to highlight his very good staying ability to take the lead and hold off the late charge of the runner up.

Offered at the Magic Millions Yearling Sale from the draft of Baramul Stud, the Michael Leaf purchased and raced gelding is a half-brother to the Australian-bred, dual South African Group 1 winner Delago Deluxe, who interesting now stands at Newhaven Park in Australia where the Payne Racing stable provided the stallion with his first winner – Delago Thunder for another prominent South African owner in Markus Jooste.

With two wins and four placings from his 16 career starts, the lightly raced stayer has shown good form over 2000m, which both of his victories over that trip.
