ACE HIGH - THE DAY AFTER THE DERBY

With the dust settling on yesterday's AAMI Victorian Derby, we are happy to report that our Derby star, ACE HIGH, has pulled up sound and happy after his biggest win to date.

On reflection this morning, David had the following to say, "Fist of all, Ace High has pulled up happy and sound from yesterday's run. It was a great effort from him, he showed just how tough he is.

"There are many people to thank, but I must say a big thank you to loyal owner, John Cordina. He has been with the stable since we arrived in 2002 and he is now reaping the rewards. He is a pleasure to train for and I am so happy he is having this success.

"Tye Angland must be commended for a job well done. It was a great effort by him and I must thank him for the hard work he has put in.

"My Team at home have done an outstanding job with Ace High, the hard work has paid off.

Ace High will return to Rosehill tomorrow, I will check him out and then we will turn him out in the spelling paddock for 5-6 weeks. In his next prep, he will be aimed at the Rosehill Guineas & Derby or potentially the Queen Elizabeth, all taking place during the 2018 Autumn Carnival."

David ended by thanking everyone for the well wishes, " I received messages from all over the world, South Africa, Hong Kong and from all over Australia. It has been amazing really. On behalf of Merle, myself and all of my staff, thank you to everyone for the well wishes and support. It was just wonderful to win the Victorian Derby and I must also thank all the sponsors (AAMI) as well as Melbourne Racing and Flemington Racecourse for being such wonderful hosts."
