Baby Shoes Break Maiden

Well-bred mare Baby Shoes travelled to Nowra on Tuesday in search of her first win, contesting the {http://www.davidpayneracing.com.au/default.aspx?pageaction=viewrace&raceid=5109793Kel Campbell Fuel Haulage F&M Handicap] over 1200m.

Starting the narrow second favourite behind Street Cry mare Elouera, Baby Shoes went forward and settled on the rail, a few lengths from leader Lady Patrika and Nancy Nola.

Ridden by Chad Lever, Baby Shoes waited until a gap presented itself as the field charged into the home straight, and once clear, the mare surged through, looking the winner from the moment the gap appeared.

Coming home strongly from well back in the pack was the race favourite Elouera, but the race was all over as Lever allowed his mount to coast to the line.

Taking the race by a length and a quarter, Baby Shoes (More Than Ready) is the first foal out of the Group 2 Light Fingers Stakes winner Rock Me Baby who David Payne trained to five wins from ten starts.

Raced and bred by Neasham Hayes Syndicate (Mgr: K Hyman), the stable is extremely appreciative of the continued support.
